Membership Requirements

To maintain consistency and trust across the network, all applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Locally Based: Headquartered and legally registered in the destination you represent (even if you also have foreign or marketing offices).
  • Owner-Managed: Run by individuals with a hands-on role in the company’s day-to-day operations.
  • Independent: Not part of a multinational or franchise chain.
  • Licensed and Certified: Fully compliant with all local laws and tourism authority requirements.
  • B2B-Focused: Serving foreign tour operators and travel agents as one of your key markets.
  • Small to Medium-Sized: We support agile, flexible operations capable of providing tailored and responsive service.
  • Digital Presence: You must have your own internet domain, active social media channels and an active website.


Exclusive Representation

To ensure each member receives the full benefit of the network and to avoid internal competition, membership is exclusive by destination. Only one DMC per country (or specific destination area, where appropriate) will be accepted into the network.

A Collaborative Network – Not a Profit Center

It’s important to understand that AFRICA DMC’s is not a commercial platform built to generate profit from its members. We do not collect commissions or fees on projects, bookings, or business materialized through the network. Instead, we operate as a simple, transparent, and collaborative structure designed to empower local DMCs through joint marketing and mutual support. A modest membership contribution is required solely to cover the operational and promotional costs of the network - ensuring that we can deliver the promised marketing actions and maintain visibility across key B2B channels. Nothing more, nothing hidden.

How to Become an Africa DMC's Member???

A Personal Approach to Building Partnerships

At Africa DMC’s, we believe that tourism is, above all, a people’s business—especially at the scale and nature of the small to medium-sized, locally owned tour operators we work with. That’s why our membership process is rooted in personal contact and mutual understanding from the very beginning. We want to ensure that every new member is not just eligible, but genuinely aligned with the spirit and values of the network.


Step-by-Step Membership Procedure

Here’s how the process works:


1. Initial Contact

The first step is to reach out directly to Max Van den Bossche, either by email or phone. Our goal at this stage is to set up a friendly and open video call where we can introduce ourselves, learn about your business, share expectations, and discuss the opportunities and realities of joining the network.


Please note that, in line with the collaborative and exclusive nature of our network, we will conduct checks to ensure there are no conflicts of interest before moving forward with any new membership application.


2. Reconfirmation of Principles & Requirements

After the initial meeting, we will go over the guiding principles, the action plan of the network, and the associated costs in full transparency. We'll also review the technical and ethical membership requirements, ensuring everything is clear and mutually understood.


3. Eligibility and Onboarding Checks

From our side, we will carry out the basic onboarding verifications to confirm:

  • Your company’s local registration and licensing
  • Website and digital presence
  • Who is Who and operational profile
  • References and general reliability

These checks are based on the documentation and information you will be asked to provide during the process.


4. Final Confirmation & Contract

If both parties are satisfied and feel a strong alignment, we will move ahead with signing the membership contract, marking the official beginning of your participation in the network.


5. Onboarding & Activation

Immediately after joining, we will roll out your onboarding program, which includes your integration into the AFRICA DMC’s network marketing activities and platforms. From that moment on, you are part of the family - benefiting from shared visibility, mutual referrals, and joint initiatives across the continent.
