Best Time to Visit Rwanda
The best time to visit Rwanda is during the long dry season from June to September, when the weather is cooler and clearer ideal for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and other outdoor adventures. This period offers excellent conditions for hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography, with easier access to remote areas and well-maintained trails. It’s also the peak season for tourism, so early planning is recommended.
The short dry season, from mid-December to February, is another favorable window with pleasant weather and good travel conditions, especially for those looking to avoid the peak crowds.
Rwanda’s rainy seasons from March to May and again in October and November bring lush, green landscapes, rich birdlife, and a more tranquil atmosphere. Though some activities may be weather-dependent, these months are excellent for photography, cultural immersion, and travelers who prefer fewer crowds.
Each season in Rwanda offers something unique. For personalized advice and well-timed travel planning, our Africa DMC’s local expert in Rwanda is ready to match your interests with the perfect time to visit.
